Alisha + Balaji: Engagement Photos

I couldn't have imagined a better session to end the year with! This past weekend, I met up with Alisha & Balaji to take their engagement photos. We were originally planning on taking photos at a Christmas tree farm but then changed the plan to having an urban session in Covington/Newport. However, we had SO much rain throughout the day on Sunday and wanted a nice & dry backup plan. Since Balaji lives down the street from Hotel Covington, they called to ask if it would be okay for us to stop in for a few minutes to take photos in their gorgeous lobby. I shot a wedding at Hotel Covington earlier this year and their space is just stunning. Alisha & Balaji dressed up to make their photos more formal and wow, the entire session came together perfectly.

When I first sat down to meet with them to talk about the details of their upcoming wedding days (yes! Two weddings! It will be SO much fun!) I explained that I like to make engagement sessions unique like each couple I work with. I've had sessions in libraries, an arcade, a cemetery, etc. I like to make things fun and different because I'm a strong believer that you shouldn't ever have "cookie cutter" engagement photos that match perfectly with everyone else's photos. When Alisha emailed me and asked what I thought about them bringing a few New Year's Eve props to their session to "ring" in the new year with their save the date announcements, I was all in. These photos turned out SO great and will be something that their friends and family love! So unique and fun!

After finishing up in Hotel Covington, we headed outside to take a few photos in the rain before heading back to Balaji's apartment. I always love the moody vibe rain brings to photos, and the lights & clear umbrella just make these photos so dreamy.

After finishing up outside, we headed back to Balaji's apartment to pick up their new rescue pup, Billy. He was rescued from Greece and is just the SWEETEST guy there is. The Christmas tree setup was a dream to work with and added such a warm & cozy feel to their photos and really rounded out their gallery. I absolutely LOVE all the photos from their session and just know that photographing their wedding days in July will be a dream!

Alisha & Balaji, thank you so much for trusting me to capture not only this exciting time for you, but also with both of your wedding days! You two were so much fun to work with and I'm so excited to see how everything comes together in July! I hope you love your photos so far and I can't wait for you to see the rest of the photos in your gallery here soon!
